Welcome! There's a lot to get set up, and these are some of the more noteworthy tasks.

IT and RIT (Research IT)

You will need to communicate with IT/RIT to gain access to many of the tools and service at The Jackson Laboratory.

IT Service Desk

For comprehensive information on contacting IT, see the IT Service Desk page.

The quickest way to get attention to an issue is to file a service ticket and then call IT at 207-288-1414.

They can either directly help or can escalate to someone who can, much more quickly, than waiting for a ticket to get noticed.

Ask HR

Some questions are better for HR (askhr@jax.org). They can help with things like benefits, payroll, etc.

Calendar

Submit a request to IT for read and write access to the CompSci Team Calendar.

Whenever you're out of office during typical business hours, put it on this calendar. The calendar is also used to track when people will be on campus and on-vacation.

Block Unavailable Time

Be sure to block your personal calendar for any time that you will be unavailable. This helps prevent people from scheduling meetings during times that you're not available.

Slack channels

The team uses slack for quick communication. The Slack page has more information on setting up slack, and some commonly used Slack channels.

Access

Many sites, tools, etc. will require explicit requests for access. You may already have access to these, but check to be sure. Start with Microsoft 365 and Duo as these are required for a lot of internal resources.
